Record Snowfall
Wow -- what a winter it's been so far! Forecasters did say that parts of North America were in for one of the coldest, snowiest winters in years, and boy were they right! Satellite data shows that last month was the second coldest January for the planet in 15 years! And key snowmobiling regions in the United States saw record snowfall in many areas and near-record snowfall in many other areas. Forecasts call for more cold temperatures and snowfall in the coming weeks, so get out there and continue to take advantage!

US Forest Service
As you know, the Forest Service has been struggling with their budgets - especially with the impact of ever-increasing costs to fight fires. Their battles increase ... and their budgets decrease.

People don't want them to charge fees ... see the recent article in the New York Times by clicking here.

and now ...
There is an oversight hearing scheduled before the House subcommittee of National Parks, Forest, and Public Lands to specifically address the impacts of unmanaged off-highway vehicles on federal lands for March 13, 2008.

DC Fly-In
Snowmobilers will be storming "the Hill" April 8th. Over 200 Congressional visits will be made by snowmobilers - reminding legislators "To Tell the Truth About Snowmobiling." Other topics to be addressed will be land access issues, budgets for our federal partners, and perhaps most important, continued support for the Recreational Trails Program, which will be debated in the reauthorization of the Highway Bill in the near future.
If you have not registered to attend, please do so now. There are still a few rooms available. Click here for the registration form.

Each manufacturer will have 10-13 sleds on display and District Reps will be available to answer questions.
